Rijeka
The city that flows – where industrial soul meets Mediterranean charm.
Why visit Rijeka?
Rijeka is the third-largest city in Croatia and its main port, a place of incredible energy and contrasts. Unlike typical tourist spots on the Adriatic, Rijeka offers an urban vibe, a rich heritage of Central European architecture, and the authentic charm of a port city that "flows." Known for its famous Carnival and the title of European Capital of Culture 2020, Rijeka is a city that constantly changes and surprises at every turn.
Korzo and Architectural Splendor
The heart of Rijeka is KORZO, the main pedestrian street and the "living room" for all residents. THE CITY CLOCK TOWER dominates the scene, surrounded by lavish buildings from the period when Rijeka was a key monarchy port. A stroll through Korzo is mandatory – it's where you drink the best coffee and follow the city's pulse. Just around the corner is the MAIN MARKET (Placa) with its beautiful Art Nouveau halls, which are cultural monuments in their own right, where you'll find the freshest fish directly from Kvarner trawlers.
Trsat and Underground Secrets
Towering over the city is TRSAT CASTLE, one of the oldest fortifications on the coast, offering spectacular views of the entire Kvarner Bay and islands. It is reached by the legendary 561 steps (though you can take a bus). For lovers of unusual experiences, there is TUNELRI – a military tunnel from WWII stretching beneath the city center, providing a unique pedestrian adventure on the "minus one" level. Rijeka's industrial heritage, such as the former paper or torpedo factories, is being transformed into new cultural centers today, giving the city a distinctive alternative identity.
Urban Dynamics
A city that lives 365 days a year, without seasonal slumber.
Trsat View
One of the most beautiful panoramas of the entire northern Adriatic.
Cultural Treasury
Museums, galleries, and alternative spaces in former factories.
